Bio

Joe W. Bailey II has almost 40 years of practice in the criminal arena, first as a prosecutor and later as a defense attorney. He has maintained his Board Certification in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1990. Bailey has built a solid reputation as a trial lawyer and has prosecuted or defended virtually every type and level of criminal case.  With a focus on white collar, internal investigations and environmental, his cases are split between state and federal courts.  When requested to do so, Bailey has served as a special prosecutor.

Joe Bailey is admitted before the Supreme Court of the United States, all courts within the State of Texas, all Federal Districts in Texas as well as being admitted pro hac vice  in different districts and states for cases outside of Texas.  In addition to his defense practice, Joe Bailey is called on frequently to lecture at various schools and CLE seminars. He is a former adjunct professor of Trial Advocacy at the University of Houston Law Center. Bailey has served as chair and member of numerous sections or committees with the Houston Bar Association.

Bailey received his law degree from South Texas College of Law in 1980. Before entering his present firm, Bailey served as an Assistant District Attorney for Harris County from 1980-1987.
