Bio

J. Michael Hannon founded HANNON LAW GROUP, LLP, in May of 2006, to expand
the range of legal resources available to his clients. Mr. Hannon is an experienced trial and appellate attorney, litigating cases in the areas of professional liability, criminal conduct, serious personal injury, business disputes, estate disputes, and employment. Mr. Hannon also represents individuals and corporations in defense of grand jury investigations and conducts internal corporate investigations.

Mr. Hannon is a member of the American Foreign Service Officers Association select
Panel of Counsel. He represents Foreign Service Officers in a host of matters both domestic and
international in scope, and occasionally contributes to the Foreign Service Journal. In 2005, Mr.
Hannon was selected to the Panel of Counsel for the Fraternal Order of Police Legal Plan.
Through that plan and otherwise, Mr. Hannon represents local and federal law enforcement
officers in defense of employment actions, civil lawsuits, and criminal investigations.

Mr. Hannon began his legal career in 1981 as an Assistant United States Attorney for the
District of Columbia where he investigated and prosecuted violent and white collar offenders.
Mr. Hannon was responsible from 1983 to 1985 for the investigation and prosecution of
homicide and sex offense cases in the Superior Court. He was promoted to the Special
Prosecutions Section where he was responsible for the investigation and prosecution of
racketeering, international fraud, and terrorism cases in the United States District Court for the
District of Columbia Circuit until his departure to private practice in 1988.

In 1998 he was elected President of the District of Columbia Defense Lawyers
Association. In 1999 he was selected as the District of Columbia Representative to the Defense
Research Institute. He has served in numerous positions with the Counselors, most recently as
President in 2012. From 1972-1980, he was a high school English teacher and swimming coach
in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Mr. Hannon previously was a Partner with Thompson O’Donnell, LLP, for 18 years
before founding HANNON LAW GROUP. During that time, Mr. Hannon argued the first appeal
before the United States Supreme Court from the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans
Claims in October of 1994. The Supreme Court ruled unanimously in favor of Mr. Hannon’s
veteran client, overturning a 70-year practice by the Department of Veterans Affairs denying
compensation to medically injured veterans.
