Bio

Larry is a shareholder with Chamberlain, Hrdlicka, White, Williams and Aughtry, P.C., in Houston, Texas.  His practice concentrates on federal tax controversies, both civil and criminal.  He also teaches as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Houston Law Center, and is a co-author of the casebook Tax Crimes published by Lexis-Nexis.

Larry received his B.A. (with High Honors and Special Honors in Plan II) and J.D. degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.  He currently serves the American Bar Association Section of Taxation as Vice Chair of Administration and as Chair of the Committee on Appointments to the Tax Court.  He previously served as a Council Director of the Section, as Chair of the Committee on Civil and Criminal Tax Penalties, and as Chair of the Committee on Employment Taxes.  His major cases include:  representing the first taxpayer to be awarded attorney's fees by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals; serving as lead counsel in one of the largest project cases in the history of the United States Tax Court; and successfully defending a "Final Four" accounting firm in a large tax malpractice case.

Best Lawyers in America named Larry its 2016 Lawyer of the Year for Tax Litigation and Controversy in Houston.  His practice also has been highly ranked by Chambers USA, The Legal 500, Legal Elite and Texas Monthly magazine.

Larry is the proud father of a twenty-four year old son who long ago learned to stuff his father's jump shot.
