Bio

Michael Volkov is a highly reputable criminal defense attorney with more than 35 years of success spanning law and litigation, including handling of high-stakes criminal investigations, antitrust (civil and criminal investigations), securities and commercial litigation, and corporate ethics and compliance programs.  Michael has successfully represented companies and individuals in criminal  investigations, court proceedings, and complex civil matters.  His firm has a perfect record in protecting clients from indictment and federal criminal charges.  Michael has handled  over 75 federal jury trials.  He has extensive courtroom experience.  His broad areas of expertise include white collar defense, criminal investigations, internal investigations, antitrust, fraud, export control/sanctions, money laundering, securities, regulatory enforcement, and civil and criminal litigation.

Michael has maintained his successful law firm, which includes five capable and talented senior counsel and associates.  Together, the Volkov Team is able to provide excellent client-focused strategies and results.

Throughout his  career, Michael has held leadership positions in private practice, at the US Department of Justice, at the House and Senate Judiciary Committees.  In his role as Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Michael represented the Justice Dept. in inter-agency matters and policy issues and helped draft and negotiate legislation. As Chief Counsel for the US House, he advised House officials on legislative issues regarding terrorism and homeland security, NSA wiretap surveillance, intellectual property, firearms law enforcement, and drug policy.

Michael holds a JD from Georgetown University Law Center and a BS in Economics and a BA in History from the University of Pennsylvania.
