Bio

T. Kevin Wilson earned his B.A. from the University of Kentucky, and his J.D., with honors, from the Syracuse University College of Law. He settled in Virginia and he has over 25 years of experience representing people accused of DUI / DWI, Criminal & Serious Traffic Offenses all across Virginia.

Mr. Wilson is a Founding Member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association (DUIDLA), and a General Member of the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD), national organizations dedicated to raising the quality of DUI / DWI defense by educating lawyers about the many complex issues in DUI / DWI cases. Mr. Wilson’s extensive, specialized education, training and experience in the field of DUI / DWI Defense have helped him win not guilty verdicts in extremely difficult and seemingly unwinnable cases. Mr. Wilson is nationally recognized for his expertise in the field of Virginia DUI / DWI Defense; he has appeared on television as a Legal Analyst, and he regularly serves as a consultant in the field.

Mr. Wilson is a DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor and he has taught lawyers from coast to coast. Mr. Wilson has also completed Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) training, as well as training on the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) program. Mr. Wilson has extensive training on breath-alcohol testing and is trained as an Operator of five different breath-alcohol testing machines. Mr. Wilson has even purchased several breath testing machines of his own, including an Intoxilyzer 5000 and an Intoximeters ECIR, to further familiarize himself with these machines. In addition, Mr. Wilson has completed training on blood alcohol testing – both in a hospital and in a forensic lab, medical issues which arise in DUI / DWI cases and the use of Police Traffic RADAR/LIDAR.

Mr. Wilson has shared some of the knowledge and insight he has acquired over the years in a book on DUI/DWI in Virginia called the DUI/DWI Arrest Survival Guide: The Guilt Myth.

In addition to practicing law, co-authoring a book and teaching DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, Mr. Wilson also teaches law. Mr. Wilson is a police academy Legal Instructor, and in that capacity he teaches Virginia Criminal Law, Virginia Criminal Procedure, Virginia Rules of Evidence and Constitutional Law. As a contract attorney, Mr. Wilson also teaches Virginia laws relating to firearms, including possessing and carrying firearms, brandishing firearms, using firearms, use of force, self-defense, defense of others, defense of property, etc.
Mr. Wilson has studied gas and liquid chromatography in a working lab, and he holds certificates in Forensic Chromatography: Theory and Practice, Forensic Analysis of Solid Drugs and Forensic Principles of DUID. He is one of only two lawyers in Virginia to have earned the designation of Forensic Lawyer-Scientist, as recognized by the American Chemical Society Division of Chemistry and the Law.
